Attendance

It is the responsibility of the parents to notify the school in writing the reason for their student’s absence within 3 days. This written note from parent or medical doctor must include the date and reason for the absence with a signature on the written note. This excuse should be given to the Homeroom teacher within 3 days of the absence. Excuse notes may be submitted electronically. If a note is NOT brought in or sent electronically within 3 days, the absence it will be coded as UNEXCUSED.

We urge all parents to check their student’s attendance on ParentVue. Please note a parent can modify their account to receive notifications for absences or grades. You’ll need to use the desk top (not the app) and go under MY ACCOUNT to make changes.

Cobb County's Attendance Policy

3 unexcused absences: Contact is made with the student’s family by the homeroom teacher.

5 unexcused absences: Written notification from the school is sent to the student’s family.

7 unexcused absences: a referral is made to the School Social Worker. (Please note that a school principal can make a referral to the School Social Worker at any time he/she deems appropriate)

10 unexcused absences: Referral to the court of jurisdiction. For students, this is the Juvenile Court of Cobb County. Parents may be charged with educational neglect, thus possibly leading to the issuance of a criminal warrant and prosecution in the Cobb County State Court.
